The problem appears to be fixed in the version 1.17 of tv_grab_no. For 
Gentooists, this version is found in xmltv-0.5.39, which still is 
masked in portage. The stable package xmltv-0.5.37-r1 has the old and 
broken tv_grab_no 1.13 that I referred to in my previous posting.

One of the problems with MythTV appears to be that packages marked 
"stable", even in a distro that's generally considered "bleeding edge" 
are actually outdated :)
