OK the original thought was to just keep the standard cable as-is 
working with the xbox.  Then create another tuner, to be able to switch 
between standard cable and digital cable.  This doesn't really "buy" me 
anything because I can't really record multiple channels at the same 
time (or can I?)?   Maybe this is what I was originally thinking....
Maybe I don't need 2 tuner cards to record 2 shows at the same time, if 
I use seperate inputs on the 250 card.

Or maybe I just didn't want to setup the IR blaster to auto-change 
channels on the HD box.
