 	Sounds like they're basically doing what I have suggested with 
regular VGA cards.  They are using the 3 DACs that normally output R, G, B 
to output Y, Pb, Pr.  I'm pretty sure that the same thing could be done 
with any video card the supports sync-on-green.  If playing video via 
XVideo extension could be told that the video card hardware YUV 
translation but then not actually translate in the card... voila... no 
color transformation necessary.

 	Of course, regular non-video would have some pretty psycho 
colors... :)
