[mythtv-users] OT: debian packages -- /.qt

Anyone using the debian packages for MythTV from
deb http://dijkstra.csh.rit.edu/~mdz/debian unstable mythtv
?

I'm getting an error when I launch the init script for mythbackend
"QSettings: error creating /.qt"
Obviously, user mythtv does not have permissions to create /.qt, but 
why should it be trying to create it?  That directory already exists 
in mythtv's home directory.  How do I fix this?
