[mythtv-users] Slightly OT: Recommendation for USB to Serial
convertor

Hi,
In response to my problem of needing either a combined serial port based IR
receiver and transmitter, or using two serial based devices simultaneously,
I was wondering if any other users have had the same problem and have had
success using one serial port and converting a USB port into another serial
port to use two devices.
I am sure this is entirely possible, but is LIRC easy to setup in this
manner? and more importantly, can anyone recommend a particular brand of
USB-serial convertor known to work under Linux (FC2/FCx etc) that should
give me the least problems. (or do they either all work the same or not at
all?)
As I don't have (or don't think I have!) the skills to solder a combined
unit myself, this seems like the best way of solving my current problem. The
Hauppauge remotes are really too small, and the Sky+ Navigator remote just
sits there on the table tempting me to finally bring it to life!
As I'm in the UK, any online or high-streets outlets would be a bonus.
Cheers,
Nick
