Just a quick thought.  If you really wanted the master to IR blast for 
the slave then you could setup the channel change script for the slave 
to simply be an ssh /telnet call to the master, which then calls the 
actual channel change script.  It's reliability and responsiveness 
could be questioned, but assuming it's a wired ethernet connection 
between the two then I think the call would be reliable.  The only draw 
back is that it might be a few extra seconds to change channels.

Just an idea...
