Try running the update from the command line to make sure it works.
If you need anything special (like I do with DVB-T), I've switched off
the the mythfilldatabase entry in the setup options, and added it as a
cron job.

As mentioned already yout need the decrypt module installed, check the wiki.
Also there is an error in the xine path, also in the R5A16 wiki entry.

On my remote (Windows MCE 2004) the number pad keys cycle through the
letters (like on a mobile phone), but you can just plug a keyboard in
and use that.... :)
