I think the resolution is here:

(in case the FAQ gets new ids again, it's the question "Why doesn't
MPlayer work on Fedora Core?")

The solution presented there is far too invasive, so it is not going
to be a default in the packages. There are ways to fine control
perlink/exec-shield, so if someone comes up with a better mplayer-only
solution, I'd be glad to know about it.

Which Nova-T? Nova-T is a marketing name with a lot of revisions
sometimes changing all components form the PCI bridge over the
demodulator to the tuner.
