Mike D. & Everyone,

Thanks for analyzing this ... proud, eh?  Well ... it sounds like it will be
another weekend of mythtv for me (still a level 0 linux amateur - my kungfu
is not quite there yet).  I'm determined to get this working after the
SageTV experience (easy to get up and running but weekly crashing under XP)
so hopefully I'll be able to dig myself out of the snow!  Thanks again for
your help.  I'll post more info on the results of this new adventure when I
can.
