I use about 1.1 - 1.25 GB/hr with my PVR-x50's.  You won't "need" more 
space, but you'll probably want it.  (I mean, really, do you think you 
could actually delete episodes of Futurama?)

One capture card per channel.  If you want Picture-in-Picture, that 
requires two channels, so two captures cards.  If you want to record two 
different things off different channels at the same time, you'll need 
two capture cards.
