Mike,

I am running Debian unstable with the debs from dijkstra.csh.rit.edu....

/etc/modutils/ivtiv:
alias char-major-81 videodev
alias char-major-81-0 ivtv
options ivtv ivtv_debug=1
options tuner type=39
options msp3400 once=1 simple=1

Scanning /var/log/messages for any pattern like: START INIT IVTV
gives nothing, maybe because debug=1??
but here is some other ivtv related output in /var/log/messages:
....
Oct 3 19:42:30 localhost kernel: ivtv: version 0.1.9 (release) loading
Oct 3 19:42:30 localhost kernel: ivtv: SGarray_size = 340,
DSGarray_size = 16
Oct 3 19:42:30 localhost kernel: ivtv: Found an iTVC16 based chip
Oct 3 19:42:30 localhost kernel: tuner: chip found @ 0xc2
Oct 3 19:42:30 localhost kernel: tuner(bttv): type forced to 39 (LG
NTSC (newer TAPC series)) [insmod]
Oct 3 19:42:30 localhost kernel: msp34xx: init: chip=MSP3445G-B8, has
NICAM support
Oct 3 19:42:30 localhost kernel: msp3410: daemon started
Oct 3 19:42:30 localhost kernel: saa7114.c: starting probe for adapter
ivtv i2c driver #0 (0x10005)
Oct 3 19:42:30 localhost kernel: saa7114.c: detecting saa7114 client on
address 0x42
Oct 3 19:42:30 localhost kernel: saa7115.c: writing init values
Oct 3 19:42:30 localhost kernel: status: (1E) 0x48, (1F) 0xc0
Oct 3 19:42:30 localhost kernel: ivtv: Encoder revision: 0x02040011
Oct 3 19:42:30 localhost kernel: ivtv: Registered v4l2 device, minor 0
Oct 3 19:42:30 localhost kernel: ivtv: Registered v4l2 device, minor 32
Oct 3 19:42:30 localhost kernel: ivtv: Registered v4l2 device, minor 224
Oct 3 19:42:30 localhost kernel: ivtv: loaded
.....

I'll go ahead and install the latest ivtv driver. Is that sufficient or do
I need to patch the kernel as well?
How should my modules.conf look after this? What should I set tuner type=?

thanks,
Tilman
