[
background information...

I was having problems with "chipmunk audio", or the funky speed problem with
recordings, and I found something in the archives about the
PVR-250/MPEG2/somethingorother having problems with 480x480 (and I also
didn't have this problem when my front/backend box was running knoppmyth, and
I didn't change the defaults (don't know if it was 480x480 or not), and don't
understand why MPEG2 can't do 480x480. Also, if there is a technical
limitation, why does mythtv allow one to have the mpeg2 defaults set to
something which is unusable?

I have just double-checked, and mythfrontend is set to 720x480, no
transcoding, using a PVR-250, bitrate is 2200, Stream type is MPEG-2 PS.
However,

I looked at the mythconverg database, the codecparams table, but which profile
should I be looking at? I have 5, 6, 7, 8, 21, 22. It looks like the
default one is 5, but I haven't seen any proof of that at this point. Also,
is there a record in the database somewhere which will tell me which profile
was used for a given recording?

thanks,
rob
