[mythtv-users] Can't disable automatic commercial detection with 0.16

I was poking around trying to figure out a repeatable pattern for the
"disk space doesn't get free'd after deleting a recording" problem when
I ran accross a problem with automatic commercial detection.

I was performing serveral cycles of recording short segments (1 or 2
minutes) then deleting the segments. On several occasions I noticed
that when I tried to delete the short recording, disk space did not get
freed because the NUV file was renamed rather than deleted.

Running "fuser" on the file showed that this renamed version of the
recording was in use by mythbackend. I then happened to notice than
mythbackend was using about 40% of the processor when it should
not have been doing anything. Obviously, it was doing something and
was probably doing something with the recording.

I shut everything down, restarted mythbackend with verbose messages
and repeated the test. Messages from mythbackend indicated that
automatic commercial flagging was occurring, even though it is disabled.

I went into setup on mythfrontend and double checked to make sure
commercial flagging was disabled and sure enough it is. I assume
that like everything else, this is actually controlled via a value in
the database.

Has anyone noticed a problem like this? I'm pretty much a novice when
it comes to SQL so could someone tell my how I can check the actual
database to see if commercial flagging is indeed disabled.

BTW - P3 733 with FC1 and Myth 0.16.

Also, anyone experiencing the failure to free disk space problem,
check to see if you have any "hidden" files in your recordings directory
that are about the size of what you'd expect for a recorded program.
