Changing DSCAPS_DOUBLE to DSCAPS_FLIPPING worked for me with the current
release of DirectFB.  I'm not too familiar with DirectFB, but as near as I
could tell from the documentation and some other info I found through
Google, the two are synonymous.  (Somebody else mentioned that DSCAPS_DOUBLE
is defined in DirectFB CVS, but this should save you from having to switch
to a potentially unstable version of DirectFB.)

I've put up a patch at http://alfter.us/files/mythtv-0.15-directfb.patch
that fixes this problem.
