This is getting way off topic, but I had to chime in here.

Regarding pirating and P2P and all that, I stand by my assessment that P2P,
piracy, illegal sharing, etc is not hurting the recording industry, the
movie industry, etc nearly as much as they scream it does. Why? Because
99.999% (only a guess, but I'd bet it's near accurate) of the people
downloading and using these mp3's, movies, tv shows etc, if they could not
download them for free, WOULD NOT BUY THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE.

I've downloaded MP3's, I've downloaded movies, I've downloaded software in
the past. Not a single one of the things I've downloaded would I have bought
if I could not have downloaded it. And I dont think I'm in the minority
here. Sure, some people do use it as a way around buying the product, but
I'd imagine the vast vast majority do NOT use it as a way to avoid buying
it. They wouldnt buy it one way or the other, but hey, if it's free, why not.

I'd never pay for a vacation to Nebraska. No offense to Nebraskans(?) but
theres nothing there I'd pay money for to go see, if I have $2000 to go on
vacation, I'm going to a tropical island. If someone GAVE me a trip to
Nebraska for free, hell yes I'd go. But if I was not given the trip, I
wouldnt pay to go there.

Same with that copy of the Gladiator Soundtrack I downloaded. Cool music.
But if it were not online to download, no way in hell would I pay good money
for it.

The stuff I like and want, I've bought, especially the smaller artists
trying to make it big, I buy their stuff, I want to support them. That new
country song I like I heard on the radio? I'm not paying $16 for the whole
frigging CD, so I'll download the song. If it werent there to download, I
still wouldnt buy the CD.

I dont see how someone's losing money.

(Of course this doesnt get into the big operations pirating and selling
pirated stuff... THERE the music, movie, etc industries DO lose money...
someone is willing to pay for a product, and the money didnt go where it
should have...)
