I tried this driver lately with a stock 2.4.26 kernel (with v42l and i2c
pathes) and it didn't work at all.  It locked up my machine, usually
at the Nvidia splash screen upon X startup.

You can get the 4363 version from NVidia's web site on the archives
page.  This runs like a charm, no problems at all so far.
