[mythtv-users] [off-topic] quick stupid question

Most projection TVs are CRTs (three of them in fact). However, since the
output of the CRTs is much higher than that of a direct-view CRT they can
very much easier burn in. That could be the reason for the warning, not

DVI-HD uses HDCP for content copyright protection. After doing some research
I've found that if the Sony TV enforces HDCP then I'd need a PC video card
which supports it as well - and so far the only ones I've been able to find
are the very newest ATI and nvidia cards. However, I've read that many TV
manufacturers will establish a connection over DVI despite the lack of HDCP
on the source. I don't know if the Sony line will however.

I'm no expert, but I wonder if the "not intended for PC use" is because
of the burn-in factor? Just like they say not to run a Gamecube or
other game system on a projection TV. They are much more likely to burn
in than a CRT is.
