[mythtv-users] Digital cable tuners

With the new laws in NYstate going in to effect, cable companies have to allow direct connection to "standard" HDTV tuners inside TVs.. Do you forsee hauppauge or others supporting this "open" standard so that we can finally record High Definition images on our DVRs?..

if hauppauge decides to develop one of these cards (I live in the town next to their offices and maybe could ask them for engineering samples :)) would anyone be able to offer drivers and/or a myth interface that could handle saving the High Def files?

I'm very new to the whole MythTv thing, but not to technology, You'll be hearing from me as I attempt to put together an excessively overpriced overpowered unit for my new home..

Off topic question:  I'm going to be using an IR blaster as well as the Hauppauge 350 IR reciever, can MythTV handle both of these things simultaneously? How?
