I run a combined front/backend on one machine and everything is as root. 
The machines sole purpose in life is to run MythTV. Just to scare the 
bejesus out of any admins out there, it even logs in automatically upon 
boot as user 'myth' whose UID I've set to 0 too :-)

Functionality 1st, security 2nd in this case... sorry.
