     No, the audio is from the decoder.  I use this setup, and the audio
is always that of whatever I'm watching, time-shifted or not.

     The OP is probably running into the VIA 48KHz sampling issue, which
has already been discussed here (unfortunately, I have no answers for
it, and I have the same problem).
