Hi everyone,

I recently upgraded my distribution, packages and Myth CVS (to
yesterday's). Being a relative novice, I of course didn't get it right.
I failed to remove some packages before apt-getting and I ended up with
several versions of things like alsa, ivtv, and nvidia graphics drivers
installed.

I think I have alsa and ivtv cleaned up now:
[root at localhost mythtv]# rpm -qa|grep alsa
gnome-alsamixer-0.9.6-2.fr
kernel-module-alsa-2.4.22-1.2197.nptl_51.rhfc1.at-1.0.5a-0_30.rhfc1.at
alsa-driver-1.0.5a-1
alsa-lib-1.0.5-0_14.rhfc1.at
alsa-utils-1.0.5-0_9.rhfc1.at

[root at localhost mythtv]# rpm -qa|grep ivtv
ivtv-firmware-2.02.023-3.at
perl-Video-ivtv-0.12-5.1.rhfc1.at
ivtv-0.1.9-27.rhfc1.at
kernel-module-ivtv-2.4.22-1.2197.nptl_51.rhfc1.at-0.1.9-27.rhfc1.at

and now my keyboard and LIRC seem to be ok as is all of Myth (record
playback etc...).

However, mplayer (via mythvideo) is playing but with no sound. Here is
command I am using to launch it:

mplayer -fs -zoom -quiet -vo xv -ao alsa1x %s
(note that alsa9 doesn’t work either, this was the first fix I tried
from searching the archives).

I'm not sure what else to try besides removing alsa and trying to
re-install.

I do have a small problem with the nvidia graphics drivers...
[mythtv at localhost mythtv]$ rpm -qa |grep nvid
nvidia-graphics5328-libs-1.0_5328-59.rhfc1.at
nvidia-graphics4363-libs-1.0_4363-59.rhfc1.at

nvidia-graphics4363-1.0_4363-59.rhfc1.at

[mythtv at localhost mythtv]$ rpm -e

mythmkmovie-1.0.1-3.rhfc1.at

I am not sure how to remove the multiple versions of the drivers since
there are dependencies on both sets.

Any clues on the sound and what about the multiple drivers? Im pretty
sure it is the source of my warning XLib error when I start the
frontend:

[mythtv at localhost mythtv]$ mythfrontend

Any help with any of my problems would needless to say be very
appreciated!

Thanks,
Eric
