Depends on your boot loader.  Are you using LILO or grub?  With grub,
you press "e" when you get to the boot screen, slap a "2", "3", or
even "single" on the end of the boot line, then press return and "b".

LILO doesn't let you edit the command line at the boot screen, so you
have to create a new entry in your lilo.conf with the appropriate
runlevel in the kernel args list, then re-run /sbin/lilo.  The docs
for either package should have more specific instructions.

Sounds like the rest was all Fedora-specific, so I'll let someone who
knows more field those.
