Nice setup ;)

Have not had any lockups on my M10k. Running it with a PVR250 on gentoo. Running as perfectly.

The Actisys IR-200L is supported under linux. You'll just have to fiddle arround a bit with all the codes you want to transmit. I think that will be something you'll partially have to find out yourself.. unless...
Having installed Lirc you can use irdetect to create a file with ircodes just by pressing the buttons on the original remote ;)

THere are various projects for that. Though you'd be stuck on the update speed of that project to get newer versions of mythtv running. Especially like right now, 0.13 has been released for a while, but in the meantime CVS has so much more advantages for ivtv users (ivtv = the driver project for pvr[2/3]50 cards).

Having a harddrive could be a reall advantage there. (perhaps check for silence before buying the next one, http://www.storagereview.com/)
In the performance database you can for idle noise, but mostly it also counts for working noise as well (I personally have a Barracuda 7200.7 160gb drive).

No problem.
