Tonight, when I apt-get install ivtv-kmdl I get a message about broken dependencies (ivtv-firmware). I have always downloaded the windows driver and extracted the firmware after installing ivtv. Could there really something wrong with the ivtv packages? I spent all night trying to find out if it was my problem. I don't know where to go for help.

I am also having this problem. This is after I tried downloading and
compiling the IvyTV drivers as detailed here:
http://ivtv.writeme.ch/tiki-index.php?page=TvOutHowto and here:
http://ivtv.writeme.ch/tiki-view_faq.php?faqId=1#q11. I followed the
instructions in the FAQ for compiling the driver, but get this when I make:

gcc -D__KERNEL__ -D__KERNEL_SYSCALLS__ -DMODULE -DMODVERSIONS
-I/lib/modules/2.4.20-27_33.rh9.at/build/include -O2
-fomit-frame-pointer -march=i586 -mcpu=i586 -fno-strict-aliasing
-Wno-unused -include
/lib/modules/2.4.20-27_33.rh9.at/build/include/linux/modversions.h -c
-o saa7115.o saa7115.c
saa7115.c:68:2: warning: #warning Using temporary hack for missing I2C
driver-ID for saa7114
saa7115.c:1117: unknown field `inc_use' specified in initializer
saa7115.c:1117: warning: excess elements in struct initializer
saa7115.c:1117: warning: (near initialization for `i2c_driver_saa7114')
saa7115.c:1118: unknown field `dec_use' specified in initializer
saa7115.c:1118: warning: excess elements in struct initializer
saa7115.c:1118: warning: (near initialization for `i2c_driver_saa7114')
make: *** [saa7115.o] Error 1

I searched the ivtv list and people say to run mrproper but I already
did that.

So, I figured maybe I could get an rpm that would have ivtv-fb in it
using apt-get. This is when I encounter the problems you have
experienced. I'm not sure where to go from here...
