Seriously though, have you tried SSH'ing into the box and running TOP to 
see what's going on during this?

I run a CVS somewhere between .13 and .14 and never see disk activity as 
described.  I'm thinking about getting the latest CVS because I hear 
there's a new cool theme or two.
