/dev/dsp is an OSS thing.  The name to use for ALSA depends on how you 
are connecting your audio.  If it is analog, try ALSA:front.  If it is 
S/PDIF (coax or optical) try ALSA:spdif.  There are other options.  
Search the archives for alsa.

What distro and kernel version are you using?

Perhaps you should start with Jarod's guide at 
http://wilsonet.com/mythtv/fcmyth.php .  If you use Jarod's guide I 
would recommend FC2 for now as that is the most tested.

You can find information on the HD-2000 and PVR-250 at my outdated and 
horribly organized web page at http://thegeorges.us/mythtv/  .  The 
2.6.7 page probably has the most info.  I never really did finish the 
2.6.9 page, although the information there should be accurate.
