The image is an authored DVD image (VOBs and IFOs and all). I starting
trying to make an SVCD test pattern disc, as it would be more useful to more
people. I got bogged down in the details of authoring SVCDs with menus, etc
and lost interest (go figure!). If your DVD player will play a DVD image
written on a CD (sometimes called a "mini-DVD"), it'll work. I have one player
that will play such a beast (Apex 1100 or some cheapie). I still think it
would be useful to make a nice suite of test patterns and GNU the thing.
Realistically, it's only mostly correct, since some of the test patterns
require out-of-bounds signals (blacker-than-black, whiter-than-white stuff).
For color balance, geometry, gamma, and for mediocre-quality-resolution, it's
doable though.
