I have an nVidia PCI-slot card with TV out that works OK for playback with 
xine (I haven't tried it with Myth) using the nvidia (not nv) X driver. I 
got it at a local (Fry's) closeout, so I don't know how widely available 
such cards are any more ... but they do, or did, exist.
