This is a symptom of your mixer settings not being correct.  Your 
line-in needs to be muted, set to 'capture' with the capture volume 
turned up.  Sometimes the capture volume is a separate slider; 
sometimes it just uses the volume of the line-in.  Different mixer 
programs and different soundcards behave differently.  Run 'aplay 
<device>' (where <device> is your audio capture device, like /dev/dsp) 
and play with the settings until you hear a single audio stream.  
Double check by trying LiveTV.  You should hear a single audio stream 
in sync with the video.  If the audio is ahead of the video, you've got 
it wrong.
