You never mentioned your Linux skill level or budget.
If you are a total Linux newbie like me (BTW, I have
about 10 years Mac and Windows exp, but very little
UNIX or Linux), I would suggest to any newbie to go to
Jarod C. Wilson's website
(pvrhw.goldfish.org/tiki-page.php?pageName=rh9pvr250)
and emulate the hardware listed as closely as
possible.

Why? Then his instructions can be followed to the
letter. If you have a problem, it's likely he has a
problem, and he's very generous to post his solutions.
One thing that I am learning about Myth, it's
constantly changing. Sometimes for the worse, but
mostly for the better. For example, someone just came
up with a caller ID module. Very cool.

I am convinced that if I took a different approach
(which I did when I first started), there would be no
way I would have gotten my rig up-and-running by now,
and I started well over two months ago.

I believe the Chaintech mb came out to be $80, PVR-250
around $120, then you have a choice of cases, RAM,
etc.
