No, probably not.  Your box is never sending any responses (there are
no RECV: lines) to anything my script is sending, which usually means
the serial port is not enabled.  My only suggestion would be to verify
that you're using the correct serial port on the computer's end, and
that it actually works with some other device like a modem.

That script is for infrared transmitters via LIRC, not the direct
serial connection.
