[mythtv-users] OSD gone with CVS??

I just upgraded to the current CVS from pre 0.12 CVS.  There are quite a few improvements but I don't seem to have any on screen displays.  I hit 'i' during playback and nothing happens.  If I hit space during playback, nothing happens and no bookmark gets set.  If I hit 'z' it skips to the next cutpoint so it seems any action requiring an osd is dead.  I searched the archives and didn't see anything similar so I'm assuming I have something weird going on on my end.  Any suggestions.
