I just found another possibility to read the mpg from vcd/svcd: vcdxrip
in the vcdimager package. This has a valid mpeg file as output that
plays with mythtv. Mythtv still isn't stable (or ivtv) on that files,
lots of ffw/rew/skipping makes it freeze (only picture, not kernel), but
it's promising.

Mythtv or the decoder? splicer plays my dvds (dumped streams) fine, but
without audio. I need to get a dvd that has stereo as first track not
ac3.
