[mythtv-users] newbie hardware recommendations

I've just recently discovered MythTV and I've done some quick-n-dirty
testing on my current Linux server (AMD 1 GHz/512MB RAM) which contains a
WinTV card that I bought for the purpose of streaming radio to myself at
work. The tuner works fine, but there's no hardware encoding on it.
I'd like the machine mentioned above to be a frontend to a new machine
that I purchase. I'd like the new machine to be as low-cost as possible
so I can validate this with the wife :) Ideally, I'd like to put the tv
tuner card I have plus a PVR-250 into a backend machine so we can watch
one channel while recording another. What would be the min. hardware
requirements on a new backend so that it could record two streams (one
standard tv tuner, the other via a pvr-250) and play-back simultaneously?
It would also be useful if this box had tv-out because it will be a
frontend for another room.
Or would I be better off running cable up to the AMD 1 Ghz box with the tv
tuner, add a pvr-250 to it then buy a new dedicated frontend for the other
room? What would be the minimum requirements for a dedicated frontend?
I just want to have a good idea of what's going to work before I shell out
the money.
Thanks
