Welcome aboard, I also have a WinFast Pro and I'm yet to get around to
setting it up, care to share your lirc conf file?

I also have a via VT8233 and I have it working quite well, I tend to use
the mic rather than the line in and I did have to play with alsamixer to
get it working right. (From memory turn off Mic Boost and there was one
other setting I changed that made a significant difference.)

When I get home I can email you a copy of my settings for alsa if you
want.
