[mythtv-users] Mythtv autostart with KDE howto

I already had mythbackend startup as described in the mythtv docs and
mythfrontend was autostarting because I logged out with it running once
and now it autostarts. So I began looking into autostarting other
applications like irxevent. I found instructions for running a
different window manager and using .xinitrc but I want to keep kde for
now.

To make a long story short, you can put a link in $HOME/.kde/Autostart
and it will run other non KDE native apps like irxevent.

The KDE docs reference $HOME/.kde/share/autostart but that didn't exist
on my system but the directory referenced above did. I'm using RH9 so
maybe they moved things around from the distribution locations.
I found it by running
'locate Autostart'

Here's a link to the page in the KDE docs describing the GUI way to add
this link
http://www.kde.org/documentation/userguide/all-about-your-
desktop.html#the-autostart-folder

I also used the KDE user manager (sorry I don't remember the official
name) to enable my mythtv user account to auto login too.

Hope this helps.
