[mythtv-users] feasibility of XBOX as a backend AND frontend

In my mind the Uber-Solution would be running an Xbox as both front and
back end for mythtv. I've seen a brief mention of this on the archive but
I was unable to determin if anyone had actually done it. I've just found
MythTV and it looks great!

Seems to me this should be workable. There are Linux drivers for the USB
based WinTV tuner. And of course the Xbox supports USB. The only question
is if the Xbox is fast enough to handle encoding... The WinTV device does
not do any compression or encoding as far AFIK.

If this could be made to work it would be awesome. You'd have an
all-in-one box that handles pretty much EVERY entertainment function, all
wrapped up in a CHEAP, small, quiet container.

I don't currently own an Xbox or a WinTV, but I'll run out and buy them
both if my research indicates that this might work!

Anyone have any info on this?
