==================
Im using the remote and IR port that came w/my tv tuner card, it
plugs
into the card, its working allright for now. However its not that
comfortable so id like to use another remote. My question is can I
use
any IR remote w/that IR port or is it only designed to receive
signals
from the remote that came w/my tv tuner card and if that IS the case
what are my other options? Id like to eventually use the tivo
remote.
BTW I have a leadtek winfast tv 2000 xp deluxe

Hi Mike:

I am doing the very same thing by using a learning remote from radio
shack. My advise is that you pick a learrning remote that is:

1. JP1 capable and with enough memory (remotecentral.com is a place
to start for research, also the jp1 website).

2. With buttons that actually fit your need (maybe has well labeled
PVR buttons like "Delete", etc)

You will not only be able to learh the Leadtek's buttons, but also
have the capability to make your own buttons. I simply entered
3-digit
codes in my RS remote that are not found on the TV card's one, then
edited my lircd.conf file. Voila, new buttons.

I can provide better detail if needed,

Alex
