I typically dialup at 44kbps. I watched the output of the
program in a terminal window the whole night. It grabbed the
data ok, kept complaining that there was new channels available,
that I should rerun --configure. There was a long period of time
before channels started downloading where it was "checking channel
information"
It typically did this for about 10-15 minutes before it started
downloading the program data. I know the old zap2it site would allow
you to select all the channels to show up on a single screen, have
they removed that feature? Seems like it would make more sense
to do that and grab all the data at once, then to make it cycle through
the list a page at a time, requiring all the overhead from each ad to
download.
My filldatabase statistics were 0.71seconds / record, ~4600 seconds to
download
each day. What might step it up would be turning off new channel search
each time.
I bet that would cut a couple hours off the time.
