i do think that mpeg-4 produces much better output that the pvr250 at 
the same bitrate.  if you're trying to figure out diskspace,  i really 
would suggest that you factor for at least 3GB/hr, thats at about 6Mbps, 
which works well for me.  some people on this list use it lower and like 
it, others use it higher and like it (3.9GB/hr is about the standard 
8Mbps).  so, you do the math for how much space you need.  it depends 
where you're going to use it also, on a 17" computer monitor lower will 
work fine, but on a 52" tv, you might need to bump up the bitrate.

get a bigger hard drive. i'm trying to manage right now with a 30 GB and 
its really not enough, as soon as i can spare a moment, i'm going to get 
at least an 80GB for recordings.
