[mythtv-users] Can Not Open Any Devices

I think I may have located the source of all my troubles with ivtv.

I went ahead and continued with Jarod's guide and installed lirc.  The
install appeared to go OK.  I was able to activate lirc:

Dec 21 14:45:33 myth lircd 0.7.0pre2[1744]: lircd(hauppauge) ready
Dec 21 14:45:33 myth lircd: lircd startup succeeded

But when I ran /usr/bin/irw, I got this error in /var/log/messages:

Dec 21 14:45:38 myth lircd 0.7.0pre2[1744]: accepted new client on
/dev/lircd
Dec 21 14:45:38 myth lircd 0.7.0pre2[1744]: could not open /dev/lirc
Dec 21 14:45:38 myth lircd 0.7.0pre2[1744]: default_init(): No such
device
Dec 21 14:45:38 myth lircd 0.7.0pre2[1744]: caught signal


And lircd was shut down.

Here is my listing for /dev/l*  :

[root at myth log]# ls -l /dev/li*
c---------    1 root     root      61,   0 Dec 17 02:40 /dev/lirc
srw-rw-rw-    1 root     root            0 Dec 21 14:44 /dev/lircd

Now, I remember seeing on Jarod's Guide that the OWNER/GROUP was listed
as ' myth  root  '  and I am wondering if that is my problem.  That my
CHOWNs are messed up, as they are all root.
