MySQL/MariaDB tuning can also have a huge impact. The defaults
in some distros are not at all optimal (abysmally bad is too kind).
There are some suggestions in the wiki (although, as always, your
system will vary). If your system has the memory, being able to
keep the usual indexes and tables in memory is even better than a
SSD.
