[mythtv] Has MythTV borked my HD-PVR?

I recently upgraded from FC12 (myth 0.23) to FC16 (myth 0.24). This was a
fresh install from DVD, and I used atrpms to get the binaries. Now,
mostly everything works, except my HD-PVR, which is pretty much useless
now. If I cat /dev/video_hdpvr (the udev mapping for the device), it
works fine, and it will keep on going until I control-C the process. When
I try to schedule a recording with mythTV, the recording will start:
*

2012-02-29 22:04:24.283 TVRec(28): Changing from None to RecordingOnly
2012-02-29 22:04:24.284 TVRec(28): HW Tuner: 28->28
2012-02-29 22:04:24.577 AutoExpire: CalcParams(): Max required Free Space:

2012-02-29 22:04:24.579 Started recording: "The Godfather": channel 2889 on
cardid 28, sourceid 2
2012-02-29 22:04:24.583 scheduler: Started recording: "The Godfather":
channel 2889 on cardid 28, sourceid 2
2012-02-29 22:04:32.305 Updating status for "The Godfather" on cardid 28
(Tuning => Recording)
2012-02-29 22:04:32.432 TVRec(28): rec->GetPathname():
'/video/2889_20120229220400.mpg'
2012-02-29 22:04:50.420 RecBase(28:/dev/video_hdpvr):
GetKeyframePositions(894,9223372036854775807,#1) out of 9

(17 minutes of the program recorded here)

and then it consistently fails with messages like this:

2012-02-29 22:21:49.108 DevRdB(/dev/video_hdpvr) Error: Poll giving up
*
*2012-02-29 22:21:49.114 MPEGRec(/dev/video_hdpvr) Error: Device error
detected*
*2012-02-29 22:22:01.527 MPEGRec(/dev/video_hdpvr) Error: StartEncoding
failed*
* eno: Resource temporarily unavailable (11)*
*2012-02-29 22:22:04.528 MPEGRec(/dev/video_hdpvr) Warning: Unable to set
audio input.*

At this point I have to reset the device and then I can rinse and repeat
the above scenario.

I am still running the same HD-PVR firmware that I was before -- the stable
version 1.5.7, from June 17, 2010.

*[ 217.551237] hdpvr 2-3:1.0: firmware version 0x15 dated Jun 17 2010
09:26:53*
*[ 217.738519] hdpvr 2-3:1.0: device now attached to video1*
*
*
I've confirmed that the HD-PVR is on a USB 2.0 bus:

*lsusb*
*Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub*
*Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub*
*Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub*
*Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub*
*Bus 002 Device 011: ID 2040:4902 Hauppauge HD PVR*

I've tried switching USB cables, and I've tried a variety of ports (my MoBo
has 6). Nothing works. I even unplugged my USB mouse so that the HD-PVR
is the only USB device I have, so conflicts or sharing of USB bus is not an
issue.
*
*
I pulled the HD-PVR from the myth box and hooked it up to my windows
machine to check the firmware, at which point I re-installed the same
firmware, just for good measure.
*
*
I can't be sure if this problem is the result of the myth 0.24 upgrade, or
the FC16 upgrade. Anyone have ideas on how to fix this? Any verbose
logging I can run to post here for feedback?

At this point I am very discouraged and am considering whether to go back
to an older version of the O/S, and then build myth from source.
