I have added a logfile with -v playback to th eoriginal ticket, to show 
the issue I am seeing. The configuration had an overide mode defined for 
720x480 "any", and this was not used for playing back the DVD which is 
720x480. My patch gives me the behaviour I need, but I am interested in 
whether this is a corner case or if it is actually broken.
