HI!
I have already asked this on the users list a while ago with no useful
response and also found nothing with Google.
About 2 years ago I had "Bob 2x" working perfectly on a CRT-TV (PAL,
S-Video) with 800x600 and 50 Hz. Then I switched to LCD-TV and there it
was and is still working OK.
Recently, I added a 2nd TV, this time again a CRT. And now Bob 2x does
not work anymore ("refresh rate too low"). Of course, Kernel, NVidia
driver and MythTV have changed in the last 2 years, but I do not know
what is responsible for that.
I am using the Metamode "TV: 800x600 +0+0" which results in a perfect
PAL display on the CRT.
But nvidia-settings reports 49.99 Hz, maybe that is the problem?
Maybe, MythTV expects exactly 50 Hz,but actually should round the 49.99
to 50?
So, I tried lots of variations in xorg.conf to get 800x600 at 50 or 720x576 at 50.
I can get 720x576 only with 59.96 Hz or 800x600 with 49.99 Hz, but
neither with 50 Hz, according to nvidia-settings. I am using TV-Standard
PAL-B.
On my new LCD TV, metamode 1920x1080_50 gets 50 Hz. But the "_50" does
not work with 800x600 or 720x576 (falls back to 1024x768 at 60 then) on my
old TV.
So, I set vertical refresh capability of the monitor to 50, but that
gets me 49.99 with 800x600 and is ignored with 720x576.
I am using Kernel 2.6.25 and 2.6.27, NVidia 173.14.09 and 177.82, MythtV
0.21 fixes.
Any hints would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Thomas
