Since the IMDb TOS prohibits functionality provided by imdb.pl and all
direct use of IMDb will be gone for 0.22 (
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/dev/356963#356963 ), and
(AFAIUI) the only use of IMDb data will be through imdbpy with a copies
of their database (
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/users/317352#317352 ) so it
won't hit IMDb's site, you might get more responses if you were working
on the TMDb script. ;)

Plus tons of discussion you can find by searching the archives for
"tmdb", including, how tomake it work with 0.21-fixes:
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/users/364800#364800
(where "copy the Mythtv directory" means you need both
mythplugins/mythvideo/mythvideo/scripts/tmdb.pl and
mythplugins/mythvideo/mythvideo/scripts/MythTV/ and its contents).

Python or Perl makes no difference to me--if you feel there's a reason
to make a new Python implementation of the TMDb grabber, fine--but I
won't ever use "all your contribution are belong to us" IMDb, even with
the hard-to-use approach that doesn't break their TOS. Personally, I'd
be much more excited to help*** if you were working on a script "with a
future."

Just a point to consider before digging too deep into the IMDb stuff.

Mike

***Helping, in my case, would involve a lot of digging around to get
information--so I'm not just holding out on you refusing to provide info
I already have.
