You may very well be seeing a hardware problem but others are seeing the 
same problem. I have been able to significantly reduce the incidence of 
the delays but have not found the way to eliminate it. I have tried 
trunk in the hopes that was the solution to this issue but as soon as it 
was started the delays were ever more pronounced. Now, it might be that 
other configuration parameters need to be changed when running trunk but 
I was not willing to endure a prolonged period of tweaking to make the 
system work with trunk on my production system. So, the environment was 
quickly reverted to .21 fixes. There are definitely periods where the 
lag occurs but have been less then before by removing screensaver 
software and changing desktop environments.
