Was the button there, perhaps, to allow a re-search, rather than "search 
deeper"?  For example, if one finds out his firewall is blocking UPnP 
discovery, then fixes the firewall, wouldn't he need to either tell it 
to search again or be forced to restart?

(I haven't tested the whole block-discovery-then-unblock-it thing to see 
if it would actually re-scan automatically, but I always assumed that's 
what the search button was meant to do.  So, if I'm way off, just ignore 
me.)
