Norm, I can reproduce neither the segfault nor the extra characters
you are getting. Please update to the latest source and then create
a new ticket with attached backtrace for the segfault, and a new ticket
describing you out of guide channel changing problem with your
~/.mythtv/lircrc file attached + tell me what version of LIRC you are
using (and if you are using the distro version, which distro this is.)
