[mythtv] Translating Mythweather to Norwegian

I have been spending a few hours more or less following the recipe here:
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/dev/9965?search_string=translate%20mythweather;#9965

for translating Mythweather to Norwegian. After using Linguist (had to use
the QT3 version, not QT4, that produced qm files that only partially worked)
and some hand-editing in weather-ui.xml, I have an instance on my
0.20frontend that works fairly well (except for a few untranslated
strings such
as weekday abbreviations etc. which I do not intend to discuss in this
posting).

Anyway, I added value lang="NB" tags in weather-ui.xml wherever applicable.
However, thinking about it, it seemed strange that no equivalent tags for
other languages were in that file, even though I have seen several
translation patches submitted a few years ago that included such additions
to weather-ui.xml. And searching through the 0.20 source code, I can only
find one *-ui.xml file that contains such tags. Furthermore, I just noticed
that all the strings that are in weather-ui.xml also have translation
entries in the mythweather_xx.ts files, although those translations seem to
have no effect, at least not when I plug my new mythweather_nb.qm file into
my 0.20 installation wihtout also including the changed weather-ui.xml.

So, my question is: did something change after 0.20 that causes Myth to pick
up all necessary translations from the .qm files, so that putting
translations into the -ui.xml files is no longer necessary?

Oh, and a final point: it would *really* be helpful if someone knowledgeable
put together a little howto on translations along the same lines as the
posting referenced above and put it on the Wiki. It does take a bit of time
to figure out this stuff, and considering the translation itself took me
perhaps two hours of fiddling with meteorological literature and going over
weather forecasts in Norwegian, the overhead of finding out /how/ to do it
probably represents a noticeable threshold for people who could do good work
on the project.

Cheers,
- Yngve
